How about something to make a little more variety with each persons character, by adding a class choice when creating your character.
Basically it would work like this, each characher class would have slightly different max items per slot and a different ammount of grenades/mines available to them:

This wouldn't mean that for example a Medic couldnt use a shotgun, it would merely mean that he wouldn't be able to refil the ammo once it runs out, on the other hand being able to hold 3 sprays and 2 tcures in each slot would make him a very valuable team member seeing as some of the classes (Heavy Weapons/Infiltrator) would be sacraficing the ability to Spray or Cure themselves for a higher ammo capacity.
I've tried to make each class type pretty balanced, so no single class would be "best" in a team game, let me know what you think and how this idea can be modified and worked on.
WaterDude here, I added the stars to show you guys that if DE wants, he can create the speed of each class. * means that the character is going to be pretty slow while someone with **** would be fast!
And I also added HP. xD.. You can change it if you want to.
